The cantankerous statement by Amit Shah against Dr Ambedkar not merely slip of tongue but a deliberate strategy of RSS and BJP to relentlessly humiliate Dr Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi and recently even Rahul Gandhi to his association with the Gandhi name. To fully understand why Amit Shah launched scathing attack against Dr Ambedkar in Parliament house on Dec17,2024, one must examine the history and ideology of RSS.What was its strategy in pre independence and for post independence India.
Golwalkar, a staunch critique of Gandhi envisioned Brahminical supremacy in post independence India. while Gandhi advocated for a free India where everyone had to equal rights. The RSS's mouthpiece Organizer published several venomous articles,with Golwalkar arguing against granting equal electorate rights to Scheduled Castes (SCs) Scheduled Tribes (STs) Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and Muslim.
The fundamental difference between Gandhi and Golwalkar was that Gandhi sought universal adult franchise ,where caste, creeds, religion and gender held no barriers, whereas Golwalkar favored hierarchical social orders as advocated in Manusmrit. He opposed Gandhi efforts to unite marginalized communities against British rule. He spreaded rumours against Gandhi claiming he is trying his level best handed over powers to these uneducated, uncultured and uncivilized communities. He has casteist theory and keen to invoke cultural Nationalism in place of Secular Nationalism prevailing today in Indian democratical rule system. He said the article in democracy of India were taken from different Constitution of different countries in Indian democracy nothing Indian in Indian Constitution book.He was searching vertical social orders in Indian Constitution that was missing. In Article 14 says equality before law to each citizen of India.
Furore Amit Shah against Dr Ambedkar stems from the latter's work ensuring equal opportunity to women and men through Constitution. Dr Ambedkar's reforms, particularly the Hindu Code Bill enraged orthodox Hindu groups led by figures like Swami Karpatri who vehemently opposed changes to traditional Hindu values . Dr Ambedkar eventually resigned from Nehru's cabinet,accusing Nehru being a psuedo-secularist, who indirectly supported RSS ideologies.
The RSS and BJP continue to harbor resentment against Dr Ambedkar for his role in reforming Hindu personal law and introducing equality in the Constitution. The attacks on Ambedkar intensified with Arun Shourie's book "Worshipping False God" which sought to diminish Ambedkar's legacy. The Savarkar and Golwalkar now their powerful pupil sitting on the thrown want to turned down rule of Constitution and keen to invoke Manusmrit in view to kept marginalized to women from systems again. When Dr Ambedkar brought Hindu Code bill in Parliament Hindu Mahasabha and other Hindu organizations dominated by Brahmin started protest. Swami Karpatri (Harinandan Sarswati) was leading demogogy crowd.
Jawaharlal Nehru's initial enthusiasm for Hindu Code Bill was met with significant opposition from various quarters including his own Congress party. The Bill aims to codify and reform Hindu personal law, promoting gender equality and modernizing Hindu society. Nehru's U-turn on the Bill can be attributed to several factors. Firstly, the opposition from within his own party was intense, with many members believing that the Bill went too far in reforming Hindu personal law. Secondly, Nehru faced resistance from orthodox Hindu groups, who saw the Bill as an attack on traditional Hindu values. Furious Dr Ambedkar resigned from Nehru cabinet. He assumed Nehru is a farcical Secular actually he supports to RSS and orthodox Hindus more.
RSS can't forget attack upon them, he thinks Dr Ambedkar was culprit of reforming of Hindu personal law enacted equal opportunity to all in the Constitution, so he used to search opportunity to humiliate Dr Ambedkar. Humiliation activity against Dr Ambedkar started by Arun Shourie written a book titled "Worshipping false God" he does write over the last couple of decades, B R Ambedkar has come to be idolized as no other political leader has. His statue is one of the largest in the Parliament complex. Political parties have reaped rich electoral dividends riding on his name.
BJP set up target winning four hundred loksabha seats in 2024 loksabha general election. Riding on name of Dr Ambedkar and Constitution INDI alliance levies 40%GST over on 400 ,so diminished its tally 240. Restraining BJP's seats 240 was miracle of Dr Ambedkar's name and issue of protecting Constitution, BJP keen to change it. Several leaders of BJP claimed inelection period, I want to change Constitution if got 400 seats. Day by day Dr Ambedkar being relevance and formidable in Indian politics, so BJP planned to attack on Ambedkar to check its velocity of protest.
Now realizing the deep- rooted support for Ambedkar among the masses, the BJP has resorted to targeting him and his followers to weaken the opposition. The recent confrontation at the "Makar Dwar" entrance of Parliament on Dec 19,2024, was part of the BJP's calculated strategy to protect Amit Shah and divert attention from the criticisms against him. Following the principle of "Offence is the best defense policy" the BJP Orchestrated the conflict to put its opponent on the back foot.
